Web Design Definition in Malaysia

Before we discuss Malaysia website design price further, let's first look at the definition of a website.

Website design refers to the art and science of creating websites that are visually appealing, easy to navigate, and user-friendly.

When it comes to web design, there is no one size fits all solution. A website is a complex piece of software that requires careful planning and execution. Many factors influence the final cost of a website including the complexity of the project, the number of revisions required, the amount of customisation needed, and even the client’s budget.

Components of Website Design Malaysia Price

Web Design Malaysia Calculating Cost

A web design company calculates the total cost of a website based on how much you want to spend, what features you want to include and whether you are planning to sell products online or just provide information.

Hence, Malaysia web design price vary widely depending on the type of site you're building. A basic WordPress blog might cost around RM500-RM1,200, but a complex ecommerce store could easily run into thousands. Many variables will play a part in determining how much the website price will be, including the number of pages, the complexity of the site layout, and whether or not you want to use custom coding.

Domain Names

The domain name is what people see when they type your URL into their browsers like Google Chrome. If you don't already have one, you'll likely pay somewhere around RM60 - RM120 per year to register a domain name. This includes the extension (.com, .com.my, .my, .net, etc.), . You can buy domains directly from companies such as Cloudflare, GoDaddy, Network Solutions and others.

Domain website design malaysia price is from rm60 to rm120 per year based on the domain extension

The domain name is important because it is part of your brand identity. You could use .com.my or .my, but most people opt for.com. This is why prices vary depending on where you buy yours.

However if someone else already owns the domain, the price could end being way higher

For regional domains like .com.my and .my, you will need to buy them from vendors who are registered under MYNIC.

Hosting

Website hosting refers to the place where your site resides. There are many options available, such as shared hosting, virtual private servers, cloud computing and dedicated hosting.

A good web hosting service is one of the most important aspects of having a fast website.

Shared hosting is the cheapest option, while cloud computing offers high performance and reliability. Dedicated hosting provides maximum security and privacy.

The following factors will play a key part in helping you to decide which package and hosting to choose:

  1. Speed requirements
  2. Size of your website in total including all the files, images and etc.
  3. Estimated monthly traffic that your website might receive

If your website is new and you are not running any marketing, you can choose a package that has low speed and availability which could be more cost-effective

On the other hand, if you’re running a famous e-commerce store, you’ll need hosting with significantly higher memory or even a dedicated host to accommodate a large number of transactions and high traffic volume going through your website.

Number of Pages

One of the most important factors that are used when determining the website development cost Malaysia is the number of pages required.

A website with more number of pages can help you to target multiple different keywords to do well in SEO, rank higher in search engine like Google and get a higher volume of traffic

Time for some calculation

On average, a one-page design in Malaysia can cost from RM300 to RM1,000++, depending on the quality or the complexity of the design you are looking for

A CMS is software that allows you to edit the look and feel of your site without having to know HTML. Popular ones include WordPress, Joomla!, Drupal, Squarespace and Wix.

Some allow you to add plugins, widgets and modules that extend functionality; others come with built-in tools. The best way to figure out which one works best for your needs is to do research and play around with each option.

Complex Design

These complex website designs often feature complex animation, fancy navigation, and even overlaps among their components.

When it comes to complex designs, usually the developer would require a longer time to achieve the desired result as it would require more time to code and test it before they can be sure it works flawlessly.

Search Engine Optimisation (SEO)

Have you ever heard of the following quote?

“The best place to hide a body is on the second page of Google.”

This quote is true. A research conducted by Moz in 2014, found that 71.33% of Google search traffic goes to the first 10 search results

And from that, the first 5 results account for 67.60% of all the clicks

In order to rank higher on Google search and get traffic to your website, you will need to perform Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) for your website.

Here is an oversimplified version of how SEO works.

People search certain keywords relevant to their problems. Google analyse what they are searching for and show a few websites from their database based on the SEO score of the websites for the specific keyword.

When people search on Google, they are often looking for a solution to their problem. Hence Google will calculate which of these results are most helpful to the person who is searching this and show them the results.

Take for example, if you have a restaurant that serves Chinese foods. You would want to appear in Google when someone searches for “Chinese restaurants near me”

Or if you have a website design agency, you would want to appear when someone searches for “affordable web design for small businesses.

To rank well at all for these keywords, you will need to do SEO, which is a mixture of technical, creative and analytical.

Website design Malaysia price bundled with SEO price Malaysia on average is around RM1,000 to RM10,000 per month.

Due to the nature of SEO being ever-evolving and threat of constant competition, even once you rank for certain keywords, you would need to hire a SEO specialist to ensure that your website can maintain its ranking

Photography

Website design needs photos to accommodate copywriting.

If you have no images to provide for the website, there are two sources which you can go to for photos:

  1. Stock Images
  2. Photographer

If you are looking for any images that aren't to display your product or services, you can choose to use stock images. Stock images can either be free through a Creative Commons License or may cost up to RM40+ per image in Malaysia.

Certain agencies might also have included a limited number of stock images in their package for website design Malaysia price.

However, if you are looking to use these images for a certain product or service, it is best to accurately showcase them on your website to avoid being sued for misrepresentation. In this case, you will need to engage a photographer to take photos of your product or service offerings and edit your images to be placed on your website.

Graphic Design

Sometimes you might prefer to have illustrations instead of images on your website. You might prefer to have custom illustrations, icons and images on your website. So you will need a graphic designer to design these.

Sometimes you might also want to have an image as your header image, the primary image that is shown when visitors visit your website.

Graphic designers would charge around RM200 to RM1000 per banner for this. Similar to stock images, some web agencies might also have included a limited number of stock images in their package for website design price Malaysia

Additional functionality

Additional functionality will be required if you want to have more features on your website. For example, if you plan to start selling products online, you'll need to add ecommerce functionalities. Ecommerce functionality includes things like shopping carts, payment gateways and shipping modules.

The more complex and advanced the additional functionality you require, the higher the website design Malaysia price will be.

Examples of custom features are live chat, commenting, sharing posts, forums, shipment tracking, web applications, price comparison platforms, and more.

Website design price Malaysia for a website with added custom functionalities can end up being from RM8,000 to RM1,000,000

You can even use a multi-page website to showcase all your products and services.

The cost of creating a multi-page website varies depending on what you choose. Some companies offer templates that include all the pages needed for a specific industry. Others charge per page.

You may be wondering why a multi-page website costs more than a single-page website. Well, there are several reasons.

  1. It takes longer to build a multi-page website because you'll need to plan out every aspect of the design.
  2. You'll need to test and ensure multiple different pages are working properly.
