Small Business SEO Australia
Most Australian small businesses do not lose search to a bigger competitor. They lose it to a category page on a marketplace, or to a suburb they never told Google they serve. We build search visibility around the jobs you actually want, on a site that satisfies the .au licensing rules, the consumer regulator’s position on reviews, and the single price requirement. We are a Malaysia-based team serving a global client base: English-first, priced in AUD, and on Australian working hours.

The Blockers SEO Fixes for Australian Small Businesses
Serving Areas You Never Declared
Australian catchments are wide, and a business that services six suburbs but names one on its site is invisible for the other five. We build the service area from your actual job addresses rather than from the office postcode, which is usually where the missing enquiries were.
A Domain On The Wrong Entity
The .au licensing rules require an Australian Presence behind the licence, and a domain still sitting on a deregistered entity or a former partner is a live risk to the asset your rankings are attached to. We check the licence against the trading entity before we invest in the domain.
Reviews Collected The Wrong Way
Incentivised reviews are permitted only when the incentive applies regardless of what the review says and the incentive is disclosed. Buying positive reviews, or deleting genuine negative ones, creates a consumer law problem on top of a credibility problem. We build a collection flow that stays inside the rules.
Prices That Grow At Checkout
A quoted figure that becomes a larger figure once the callout, GST or booking fee is added is exactly what the single price requirement is aimed at. It also loses the enquiry. We put the total on the page, then break it down underneath.
One Page For Every Service
A single services page asks Google to rank you for work that has nothing in common. Splitting it by job type, with the questions a customer actually asks about that job, is usually the fastest movement available to a small site.
The Enquiry That Went To A Marketplace
Do nothing and the aggregator that ranks above you keeps charging for the introduction, and keeps the customer relationship. The cost is not the lead fee. It is that the second job goes through them as well.
How We Do Small Business SEO in Australia

S+P — Scan & Pinpoint
We start with your invoiced jobs by suburb and by service, then check the domain licence, the review profile and the price presentation before touching a keyword. The gap between where you work and where you are findable is usually the whole brief.

E — Execute & Optimize
A page per service and a page per genuine service area, each with the total price shown as a single figure, the questions that job attracts, and a review section built to collect without incentivising outcomes.

F+L — Fund & Launch
Effort goes to the services with margin, not the ones with volume. Where a service has too little search demand in your catchment to justify a page, we say so and put the effort into the ones that carry the year.

U+X — Understand & Scale
We report enquiries by service and suburb in AUD, not rankings. New suburbs are added once the existing ones convert, so growth is attributable rather than hopeful.
Introducing
Why Conversion Intelligence for Small Business SEO in Australia?
There were 2,656,469 small businesses in Australia as of June 2025, making up 97.3% of all Australian businesses. Most are competing for the same local searches with the same three-page website. The separation is not more content. It is being the business whose page answers the specific job, in the specific suburb, at a price the customer can see before they call.
Australian small businesses have moved online unevenly. More than half, 51%, used social media for their online presence in 2024-25, while only 32% received orders online. That gap is the opportunity: plenty of visibility, far less of it built to actually take the job.

What Australian Rules Actually Constrain Your Site
Three Australian requirements shape a small business site more than any ranking factor does: who may hold the domain, what you may do with reviews, and how a price must be shown. All three are enforceable, and all three are cheaper to build correctly than to retrofit.
A .au domain requires an Australian presence
Under the .au Domain Administration licensing rules, a person applying for a licence must have an Australian Presence, satisfied by categories including Australian citizenship or permanent residency, registration under the Corporations Act, an incorporated association, or an Australian Business Number. A foreign company must be registered under the Corporations Act to qualify, and reliance on an Australian trade mark works only for a domain name that is an exact match of the words in that application or registration. If your domain sits on the wrong entity after a restructure, that is a licensing problem before it is a search problem.
Reviews you cannot buy, and cannot quietly delete
The consumer regulator’s position is that it is against the law for a business to create fake or misleading reviews or to arrange for others to create them. Incentives are permitted only where the incentive applies regardless of whether the review is positive or negative, and where it is clearly disclosed so consumers know the review was incentivised. Removing genuine negative reviews can itself mislead. We build review collection into the site so it produces volume without producing a compliance problem.
One total price, stated as a single figure
Businesses must display the total price of a product or service as a single figure, and that figure must be the minimum total cost including taxes, duties and unavoidable or pre-selected extra fees. Where a price for one part is also shown, the total must be at least as prominent, and optional extras that you pre-select for the customer belong inside the total. Service pages that quote a from price and add the callout fee at the end are the version of this we most often have to fix.

Small Business SEO Australia: Frequently Asked Questions
Can my business hold a .com.au domain?
Only with an Australian Presence behind the licence. That is satisfied by things like Australian citizenship or permanent residency, registration under the Corporations Act, an incorporated association or an Australian Business Number. A foreign company needs Corporations Act registration, and an Australian trade mark only supports an exact match of the words registered.
Can we offer a discount for a review?
Only if the incentive applies whether the review is positive or negative, and the incentive is clearly disclosed so readers know the review was incentivised. Creating fake or misleading reviews, or arranging for others to create them, is against the law, and deleting genuine negative reviews can mislead in its own right.
Do we have to show GST in the price on our website?
You have to display the total price as a single figure, and that figure is the minimum total cost including taxes, duties and unavoidable or pre-selected fees. If you also show part of the price, the total has to be at least as prominent.
How long before SEO produces enquiries for a small business?
Service and suburb pages that were genuinely missing tend to move first, because they answer a search nobody on your site was answering. Broader category terms take longer and, in a thin catchment, sometimes never justify the effort. We tell you which is which at the teardown.
How much does small business SEO cost in Australia?
From AUD 1,600 per month, plus an AUD 990 audit, based on Australian market rates less 20%. Single-suburb businesses are often better served by the one-off teardown and a fixed set of pages, and we will say so rather than sell a retainer.
Do you work with Australian small businesses remotely?
Yes. We are a Malaysia-based team serving a global client base, English-first and priced in AUD, and we overlap the Australian working day so changes land inside your week.
