Hotel Website Design United States
A guest planning a stay at an independent or boutique property checks three things before booking direct: is the room actually available, does the price beat the OTA listing, and does the site feel trustworthy enough to hand over a card number. Most small hotel sites fail at least one of those, so the guest who found you on Google books through the agency instead and you pay a commission for a guest who already knew your name. We build hotel websites around that decision. We are a Malaysia-based team serving a global client base: English-first, priced in USD, and covering US business hours.

The Blockers Web Design Fixes for American Hotels
Accessible Rooms Left Undescribed
Federal rule requires a hotel’s reservation system to identify and describe accessible features in guest rooms in enough detail for a guest to judge independently whether the room fits their needs. A photo gallery and a phone number are not that description.
A Booking Engine Bolted On Badly
Plenty of hotel sites link out to a booking engine that looks and loads nothing like the rest of the site. The guest notices the seam right when they are about to pay, and some close the tab there.
Paying The Commission Anyway
Independent hotels typically hand OTAs fifteen to thirty percent of the room rate. A guest who lands on your site through a Google search you paid nothing for and then leaves to book on the OTA is a rate cut you did not need to take.
No Free Booking Link Set Up
Google will place a hotel’s own direct rate next to the OTA listings in its booking module at no charge, but only for properties connected through an approved integration. Skip the setup and the OTA is the only rate a searcher ever sees.
A Site Slow Enough To Lose The Booking
Google’s own analysis of mobile sessions found that a majority of visits are abandoned once a page passes three seconds to load. A booking engine that stalls on a phone loses the guest before the date picker even opens.
The Stay That Went To The Portal
Do nothing distinctive and the guest who researched your property on your own site still finishes the booking on the agency page they had open in the other tab, and you find out only when the commission invoice arrives.
How We Design Hotel Websites in the United States

S+P — Scan & Pinpoint
We start with your current OTA mix and commission spend, then check the booking engine’s speed and checkout flow on a phone, the accessible-room descriptions, and whether Google’s free booking links are switched on.

E — Execute & Integrate
A booking engine styled to match the site rather than bolted on, accessible-room detail that meets the federal description standard, and page weight cut so the booking flow holds up on hotel wifi and cell data alike.

F+L — Fund & Launch
We connect the direct rate to Google’s free booking links program before launch, since that placement costs nothing per click and runs the moment the property is eligible, not months after.

U+X — Understand & Scale
We report direct bookings and the commission they replaced in USD terms. Seasonal rate and availability updates are scheduled around your calendar, not left for the next redesign.
Introducing
Why Conversion Intelligence for US Hotel Web Design?
A 2026 traveler survey found that direct hotel bookings through a property’s own site or app held 53% of the summer lodging market against 24% going through an OTA, though the OTA share had grown from 19% the year before. That is still a majority booking direct, which means the site’s job is to hold that guest through checkout rather than lose them to the tab they left open.
Every guest who leaves your site to finish on an OTA costs you fifteen to thirty percent of the rate for a booking you had already earned. The fix is rarely a bigger marketing budget. It is a booking engine that loads fast on a phone, states plainly which rooms are accessible, and shows up next to the OTA listing at no cost through Google’s own free booking links.

What a US Hotel Website Has to Get Right
A hotel reservation system carries specific federal obligations that a general small-business site does not, on top of the usual accessibility and marketing rules.
Accessible reservations are a named federal requirement
Under 28 CFR 36.302(e), a hotel’s reservation system must identify and describe accessible features in the hotel and its guest rooms in enough detail to let a guest with a disability judge independently whether a room meets their needs, and must hold accessible rooms for guests who need them until no other room of that type remains. The requirement has applied to reservations made on or after March 15, 2012, which makes it long-settled rather than new, and a website booking engine is squarely inside it.
Website accessibility litigation has reached hospitality
More than 5,000 digital accessibility lawsuits were filed in the United States by the end of 2025, and travel and hospitality properties accounted for roughly 1% of that total. A small share of a large and growing number is still real exposure for a property with an inaccessible booking flow, and the accessible-room description rule above gives a hotel site a second, hospitality-specific way to be out of step.
